After growing up in Toronto, Canada and playing hockey, Tom moved to the Bay Area with his parents and brother. College was at Stanford, grad school at Cal, Berkeley and finishing medical school at UC Irvine. After coming to Modesto for residency at Scenic General Hospital, he completed a Fellowship with an emphasis in adolescent medicine and family therapy. He met his wife of 35 years, Janelle, as an undergraduate and after arriving in Modesto, raised their family of a son and three daughters, who are all in the process of finishing college. He loves being with his wife and children most of all. His passions also include carpentry, hiking in the Sierra, skiing, reading, acrylic painting and classic movies.
